What our customers say...

Common questions about custom home building

Custom home costs in Baldwin County typically range from $200 to $350 per square foot depending on design complexity, materials, finishes, and lot conditions. Waterfront homes and elevated foundations add to the cost. We provide a detailed written estimate after the design phase.

Most custom homes take 10 to 14 months from permit to completion. Larger or more complex homes may take 16 to 18 months. We provide a written construction timeline with milestone dates at the start of every project.

You bring the lot. We handle everything from site assessment through construction. If you need help evaluating a lot’s buildability (setbacks, flood zone, soil, utilities), we can assess that during the free consultation.

Custom home construction uses a draw schedule tied to construction milestones. Your lender releases funds as each phase completes (foundation, framing, dry-in, finish, etc.). We provide lien waivers at each draw. The exact schedule is outlined in your contract.

DD&B pulls all required Baldwin County building permits and schedules every inspection. We manage the entire permit process and meet inspectors on site at every required phase.

DD&B holds Alabama Home Builder License #27417 and GC Pool License #59686. We carry full general liability and workers’ compensation coverage on every project.

Yes. DD&B is licensed for both. Coordinating the home and pool build under one contract avoids scheduling conflicts, reduces overall cost, and ensures the designs work together.

We can build from your plans. We review them for constructability, code compliance, and coastal engineering requirements. If modifications are needed for Baldwin County conditions, we work with your architect or our in-house team to make adjustments.

Yes. Many lots in Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, and Ono Island are in FEMA flood zones. We build elevated homes on pilings or raised foundations that meet current flood elevation requirements.

Our process includes initial consultation, architectural design, 3D renderings, structural engineering, material selection, permitting, construction management, inspections, and final walkthrough. Everything from the first meeting to the day you move in is managed under one contract.
